Local Midlands Artist SZHD has joined us for a paint a couple of times and will be amongst others painting Art of Tamworth on the 9th September 2023.
We thought it was about time we asked her the infamous.
Nue quick 5
Tell us a little about yourself and what got you started painting ?
I began painting on walls around two years ago by throwing up eyes along the canals as well as practicing at Stratford skatepark with Sweetheart Streetart. Then I found myself into my first piece at Tamworth tunnels where I painted a simple masked character. Within the last year, I’ve been developing my letters, which has also really helped my can control. So now I’m bouncing in between characters and letters, sometimes both if I’m feeling a challenge.
Best place you have painted?
Its a hard one to pick my favourite paint spot for now, I do enjoy Tamworth tunnels because you can go big. But one of my favourites is probably Selly Oak. It can be a chilled spot and there’s a pub for that celebratory beer afterwards. Just avoid the tics that bite your ankles… always wear long socks!
Any big plans for this year ?
I’m hoping to get out of the Midlands and go on some spraycations to paint. Also, I’m currently collaborating with a graffiti writer on some large canvases, however that’s all top secret at the moment.
Tell us your funniest moments when out painting ?
There are too many funny moments, and I feel like most of them, you either have to be there to find it funny or its just me howling to myself. From nearly falling into the canal, to mistaking a spray can for a beer can, to spending any amount of time with Yats because she’s a queen of jokes and good energy. Oh and photobombing fellow artists when they’re trying to get a photo of their final piece (Switch knows what I’m talking about).
Anyone who you would like to collaborate with?
There are too many artists I would love to and feel privileged to collaborate with. The first artist who springs to mind is N4T4, his portrait paintings are insane, they’re mesmerising and I always feel the need to get right up close to look at those stencilled details!
