Mig29 is back to paint Tamworth for the sixth year June 22nd
NUE QUICK FIVE
Tell us a little about yourself and what got you started painting?
Got started via skateboarding, one of the world industries vids had a skater who was tagging and that influenced loads of people to get into tagging. It took over from skating for me. It was a tiny thing with maybe a couple of hundred people involved in the uk but it was a great comunity and i loved seeing everyones work on the tracks and freights. Seeing your own stuff rolling by got you so excited! Then meeting these names and putting faces to the tags. It was an amazing time!
Best place you have painted ?
Best place painted is tough, in early days it was just on the tracksides and streets. There were no legal hofs bar in cities like nottingham And london. Just travelling to paint other places was exciting wether it was yard missions or walls. Painting golborn pit in 95 was scary as fuck. The stories about some london writers being nutters gave it a real edge so that was more of a buzz than painting trains at that time!
Any big plans for this year?
Plans this year just getting back out and painting with friends and enjoying it more again. Pushing myself a bit more stylewise and get faster.
Funniest moments when out painting ?
Er funny times, been a long time sinse i did anything with a funny story behind it, Back in the days of yore had my fair share of chases and close calls but did once visit a yard near milton keynes, had a successful paint but got pulled by police going back to car, all split n ran. i was over various fences etc and dragged myself in behind a hedge. i could hear plod nearby looking for us but i somehow fell asleep and woke up with people walking past. it was 7am and i was half an inch from hypothermia. had to walk, soaking wet, a long way to MK buss station paranoid to try and get home. did get back eventually when my bro picked me up. turned out a couple of my fellow painters had just got straight to the train station by the yard and got a train home! that was my first steel with decent european paint too courtesy of Edinburgh’s Elph!
Anyone who you would like to collaborate with?
I am more than happy to paint with anyone really. if i had a choice id rather paint with someone who is into good stylish letters or good characters. I like to work with a production idea even as simple as just using the same colours . it just makes for a good wall! I love what people like Smoe, Geser, Sone etc do. Good well poised and flexed letters. Semi wild is what i like best, not too hectic and clearly you know instantly who’s piece it is.
