Kiwi will be joining us @ Tamworth urban arts and sports festival

Tell us a little about yourself and what got you started painting ?

My name is Kiwi I’m a time traveler, a punk, an artist and one of the early members of The Secret Society Of Super Villain Artists.
I started painting to help deal with depression and the crushing realization that the universe is dark barren void that really doesn’t care what happens to us all. But at least now it’s covered in pretty pictures and that’s called turning a frown upside down and turning it into an F-you depression.

Best place you have painted

Tamworth obvs, but apart from that …. Sunderland at a weekend jam on a cricket club. Was my biggest piece to date and took me a full solid day pretty much from sun rise to sun set. I also do have a fondness for painting at Upfest, despite never being officially on the bill.

Any big plans for this year ?

I have a few plans for this year, my biggest project would probably be the edition of 13 hand painted books. Each with 40+ original artworks, all the books being the same yet unique and painted on upcycled childrens annuals. I also intend to install a piece of artwork into every ‘district’ in Boomtown fair this year.

Tell us your funniest moments when out painting ?

A group of SSOSVA members had met up in Liverpool to go paint/paste/sticker around the city center. We were using the broad daylight approach to illegal painting. Ie. They can’t be doing anything illegal because otherwise someone would stop them. I was approached and asked by a member of the public what we were doing. To which I replied we were breaking the law by putting artwork on walls. Much to the dismay of my colleagues. However the guys response was to go “Oh, okay”, and wander off. The relief could be seen pouring off of everyone from the other side of the moon.

Anyone who you would like to collaborate with?

My wish list for collaboration is ridiculously long. Anyone who has actually met me will laugh at this but I am painfully shy, and find it very hard to approach people so I doubt I’ll ever get to tick off the majority of them. My top list would include Irony, Snik, Pahnl and Dali (#PerksOfTimeTravel, I would include Van Gogh but every time we meet we just end up on the absinthe).
