Another long time supporter of Nue and returning to Tamworth June we are blessed to Announce ANNATOMIX is on the lineup.
Tell us a little about yourself and what got you started painting ?
Long story short – I started painting to save my sanity. Now it’s my full time job. My sanity is still in question.
Best place you have painted ?
I have been incredibly lucky to paint in a lot of places over the last 7 years but ultimately, the best places are wherever the paint jam is chilled and the people are friendly. That’s why I love Tamworth and keep coming back! Akumal Arts Festival in Mexico last year was amazing too – all of the artists attended on their own steam and it was a really relaxed, family atmosphere.
I still love a good old abandoned factory too.
Any big plans for this year ?
Hard to say. That’s the joy/horror of self employment – you never know what’s coming. This time last year I didn’t have any “big plans”, but by the end of it, I’d painted all over the UK and in Austria, Mexico and India. I don’t know what’s going on from one day to the next, if I’m honest.
Tell us your funniest moments when out painting?
I nearly fell off my very wobbly scaffold in Mexico when a scorpion crawled out of the wall right next to my hand. And painting in rural Sweden in the heaviest torrential rain I’ve ever witnessed was pretty funny. I was on a tight schedule so had to just plough on and try not to drown.
I have other stories, but they mostly involve grown adults who should know better, doing stupid/dangerous stuff and/or painting genitalia on things and I don’t want to shame anybody (or myself).
Anyone who you would like to collaborate with?
It’s hard to pick but I’d really like to work on some murals with someone who has a more figurative style. I have lots of ideas…
And I hope to do a lot more collaborations with people of other trades over the next few years too. I love painting but I’d like to branch out, especially into sculpture and animation.
