This September, Tamworth Castle Grounds will transform into a vibrant hub of artistic expression with “The Art of Tamworth” event, taking place on the 7th and 8th of September. Organised by New Urban Era in partnership with Tamworth Arts And Events and made possible through funding from the Commonwealth Inclusive Community Fund and Arts Council England, this two-day extravaganza promises an exciting lineup of performances, workshops, and immersive experiences, all free for attendees.
On September 7th, the event kicks off with a dynamic performance by Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, a New Orleans-inspired 90s dance band that promises to bring infectious energy to the stage. The Flying Peach will captivate audiences with trapeze displays and offer workshops for those looking to try their hand at aerial skills. Up Creative will showcase their talents with a fashion show, while South Staffordshire College will engage participants in environmental arts workshops. Additionally, some of the UK’s top street artists will be on-site, painting live throughout the day. Attendees can also enjoy interactive workshops in breakdancing, doodle wall art, chalk art, and more.
Continuing the excitement on September 8th, Rimski and Handkerchief, the piano and double bass cyclists, will headline the day with their unique musical performance. Other highlights include the Shoebox Theatre and Bibbledy Bob the Clown, promising fun and laughter for visitors of all ages. Workshops on this day will focus on environmental and recyclable arts, a music “Junk Jam” session, and the chance to experience virtual reality like never before.
“This event celebrates the richness of arts and culture in Tamworth,” said Vic Brown , organiser of The Art of Tamworth. “We’re grateful for the support of the Commonwealth Inclusive Community Fund and Arts Council England, which has allowed us to offer this exciting lineup of entertainment and workshops for the whole community to enjoy.”
Entry to The Art of Tamworth event is free of charge, making it accessible to all members of the community. Families, art enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a weekend filled with creativity and inspiration are encouraged to join in the festivities at Tamworth Castle Grounds on September 7th and 8th.
