Students from Kettlebrook Short Stay School have started the new school year with flying colours after giving a rundown outdoor quad area at the school a much-needed makeover.

The work was made possible after local art group New Urban Era organisers of the popular Tamworth Urban Arts and Sports festival stepped in to help.

Artist Wingy worked with all students at school for two days to complete the Japanese inspired wave pattern design.

Vic Brown from Nue says
” We have really enjoyed working with Kettlebrook School this year.
The students designed our new event logo earlier this year and we wanted to go back and do something for the school so we contacted Art teacher Jo Potter and she mentioned the quad needed some TLC ”
“We hope to return to the school again next year and build on our success together”

Art teacher Jo Potter said
“A huge thank you to the wonderful Wingy and to New Urban Era for facilitating our recent quad makeover; we feel so lucky to have been able to work with such a fantastic artist!
Students worked tirelessly with Wingy to create the most wonderful outside space. Stunning artwork now adorns the walls and has given us a beautiful and peaceful outdoor garden area that we can actually use.
Kettlebrook young people are thrilled with their achievements and had the best time ever spraying with the artist! ”

Mrs Rogers, the Headteacher said “Everyone at school absolutely loves the new view and it has been a brilliant back to school treat for us all!”
“We are so grateful for the recent opportunities NUE have given us and working on real live art projects has been an invaluable experience for students. We are now looking forward to working with Vic and his Team again in the near future.”
